Description

Guild's X175 first appeared in 1953, and is a classic American hollowbody electric. The proven formula of laminated maple back and sides, laminated spruce top and mahogany neck just plain *works*, and with the authentic reproductions of Guild's famous Franz dog-ear single coil pickups, it's not the "Jazz only" guitar you'd think it is when you first see it.

It will do Jazz easily, from the brighter, more percussive sounds of the Swing era to the archetypical smokier, darker tones of hard-bop. But there's more : these pickups have plenty of character and bite, and the lead pickup or the "both" pickup selection will pull off classic country, 60's garage rock, snotty pre-punk riffing or jangly pop, and this guitar is a natural for Jump-Blues and Rockabilly.

This version of the X175 comes in a rich amber natural finish, and has a rosewood bridge base and a tune-a-matic bridge, and The strings are anchored in Guild's classic version of the Bigsby B6 vibrato tailpiece, letting you go from Duane Eddy Twang to a very airy, shimmery vibrato that works as well for jangly Indie pop as it does for typical stuttering Rockabilly.
