If you like the idea of a ukulele but want something with a little more depth and authority, the Kala Satin Mahogany Baritone is where things get really interesting.

The baritone is the largest of the standard ukulele sizes and is tuned D-G-B-E, exactly like the four highest strings of a guitar. That makes this Kala a particularly easy transition for guitar players, while still retaining the relaxed, intimate character that makes the ukulele so much fun to play.

Kala's Satin Mahogany series has become something of a modern standard, and it's easy to see why. The combination of a mahogany top, back and sides, a warm satin finish and classic cream binding gives the KA-B a look that is understated, classy and very much about the instrument rather than decoration.

WARM, FULL & BALANCED

Mahogany is a natural choice for a baritone uke. It delivers a warm, rounded character with plenty of midrange presence, while the larger body adds depth and projection to the sound. The result is an instrument that can handle gentle fingerpicking just as comfortably as relaxed strumming.

The Aquila Super Nylgut strings complement the mahogany nicely, giving the KA-B that familiar ukulele response while allowing the lower baritone tuning to sound full and musical.

And despite its larger dimensions, this is still a very approachable instrument. The 20.06" scale and 1.5" nut width feel natural to guitarists, while the 18-fret neck provides plenty of room for chords and melodic playing.

CLASSIC KALA BUILD

The recipe is deliberately straightforward: mahogany throughout, a comfortable mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and a satin finish that lets the natural character of the wood show through.

The Graph Tech NuBone saddle, ABS composite nut and truss rod are welcome touches at this price point, helping to give the KA-B the feel and stability of a much more expensive instrument.

The Kala Mahogany Baritone is one of those instruments that makes perfect sense the moment you pick it up.

It's warm, comfortable, easy to play and immediately familiar to guitarists, yet it has enough character to make you forget you're playing a relatively simple instrument. Whether you're moving up from a tenor uke, looking for a guitar-friendly ukulele or simply want a compact instrument with a deeper voice, the KA-B is a very hard one to fault.
