British retro attitude. Modern-day playability. And a sound that's anything but old-fashioned.
Some guitars have history. Others have attitude. The Rapier Escort has both – and it wears its Gloss Black finish like it owns the place.
Inspired by the unmistakable British guitar designs of the 1960s, the Escort brings a healthy dose of vintage cool into the modern guitar world. But don't let the retro looks fool you: this is no museum piece. Designed in collaboration with legendary UK guitar builder and hardware specialist Alan Entwistle, it combines classic styling with carefully chosen modern appointments.
The secret to its character? Two widely spaced Alan Entwistle VX63 Alnico pickups. The bridge pickup delivers a crisp, hard-edged attack with plenty of bite, while the neck pickup serves up warmer, rounder tones with that lovely flutey character. Combine the two and you get a punchy, well-defined sound with plenty of midrange presence.
A simple 3-way selector, Master Volume and Master Tone keep things refreshingly straightforward. No complicated switching matrix, no need for an engineering degree – just three useful pickup combinations and plenty of musical possibilities. Country, blues, pop, rock and everything in between are all very much on the menu.
The solid Okoume body is paired with a comfortable bolt-on maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard, while Wilkinson E-Z-Lok tuners, a Graph Tech nut and a roller bridge take care of tuning stability and smooth operation.
And yes, there's a vibrato! The redesigned Rapier Hi-Lo Resonance vibrato system offers smooth operation and adds just the right amount of movement when your playing calls for a little extra expression.
The result? A guitar with unmistakable sixties British character, surprisingly versatile tones and modern playing comfort – all wrapped up in a classy Gloss Black finish.
Vintage soul. Modern hardware. British attitude. What's not to like?
