Eastman RW Lam B/S OM Solid Top

The Eastman RW Lam B/S OM Solid Top (you’ll often find it living under names like the PCH2-OM-RW) is where things get just a little more serious. Still approachable, still gig-friendly—but now there’s rosewood in the room, and everything suddenly sounds a bit more… intentional.

The OM body is doing its usual thing: balanced, articulate, and just smart enough to make you play better than you actually are. It doesn’t overwhelm—it translates. Fingerstyle? Clear. Light strum? Focused. Overplay it? It’ll let you know. Politely, but firmly.

Now the top: thermo-cured Sitka spruce. Same trick as the older, wiser siblings—heat-treated so it already behaves like it’s been played for years. You get that dry, open response right away. No waiting, no “it’ll bloom later.” It’s already bloomed and ordered a drink.

Then comes the twist: laminated rosewood back and sides.

And here’s where it gets interesting.

Rosewood doesn’t do subtle. Even in laminate form, it brings depth, shimmer, and those slightly scooped mids that make everything sound a bit wider, a bit richer. It’s not as complex as all-solid construction—but it absolutely punches above its weight. Think: controlled luxury.

The TrueTone gloss top keeps things lively, while the satin neck makes sure your left hand doesn’t feel like it’s stuck in traffic. It’s a practical build—but with just enough gloss to remind you it cleans up well.
